Rep. Alexander: Fundraising goes on "24 hours a day"

Louisiana Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander announced on Tuesday that he will not seek re-election, citing fundraising as one reason for his decision.

In an interview with the Norman News Star, Alexander said that fundraising is “the main business and it’s 24 hours a day. It’s not fair. It’s not fair for the member, it’s not fair for the constituentcy to have to be approached every day or two or every week or two.”

Jefferson Survives

A familiar face here on the Paid for by... blog, embattled Rep. William Jefferson's (D-LA) political fortunes survived another day and he'll head to a runoff against Helena Moreno on November 4th. (Due to Hurricane Gustav, the state shuffled the calendar around. The runoff will be on Election Day and the general election for the seat will be in December).

"Dollar Bill's" Best Shot

I'm no campaign consultant but this doesn't strike me as the strongest message on which to rest one's re-election hopes.
