Last week, I told you about Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-WY) threatening to slap her opponent for daring to call her on her Abramoff and Tom DeLay PAC donations. Today, I bring you the ad we're running in her home state of Wyoming:
Here's a passage from our release sent to Wyoming reporters:
Entitled “Slap,” the ad recounts how Cubin threatened an opposing candidate a week ago for bringing up her campaign donations from convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the Political Action Committee (PAC) connected to disgraced former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX). The ad also criticizes Cubin for defending lobbyists’ activities in Washington, D.C. and calls on voters to ask her to pledge to clean up Congress.
“When you look at Barbara Cubin’s donations, like the $55,000 from lobbyists and the $22,520 from Tom DeLay’s PAC, it makes sense for her to defend the corrupt, pay-to-play politics of Washington, D.C.,” commented David Donnelly, director of Campaign Money Watch. “But voters want their representative to stand up for them, not defend big-money, campaign-contributing lobbyists. And, apology or no apology, they certainly don’t want their sole representative in the House to physically threaten someone who dared to call attention to her special interest fundraising.”
Let us know what you think our the ad.
[Support our efforts to hold additional politicians accountable with a donation, if you're so moved.]
