More Trouble for Doolittle

Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) who narrowly won re-election last month amid growing allegations of his ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, is writing a lot of checks to a law firm that handles campaign finance cases - $44,138 in all, and probably not the last of it.

Doolittle's ties to Abramoff are numerous - he helped the lobbyist secure business in the Northern Marianas Islands and Doolittle's wife had a contract to organize a fundraiser for Abramoff's non-profit, the Capital Athletic Foundation. Doolittle has found himself in hot water on other campaign finance issues involving his family, including the 15% fundraising commission he doles out to his wife, a practice deemed unethical by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
