Fresh off his Oscar win for best documentary, Taxi to the Dark Side director Alex Gibney is turning his attention to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Gibney's next release, slated to come out later this year, will profile the Abramoff scandal and "give viewers a greater understanding, in a blow-by-blow way, of how the political process works, particularly with regards to lobbying."

It sounds like you'll want to order the big bucket of popcorn for this one, as Gibney plans to start from the beginning of Abramoff's political career and make it all the way through the twisted influence-peddling scam the investigation of which has yet to be concluded:

The film will explore Abramoff's entire life history, Gibney says, from his early years as a gung-ho member of the GOP political machine until his final reckoning as a disgraced lobbyist. "There will be some very new, interesting information about the rise of College Republicans," Gibney promises. Heading up the College Republican National Committee during the early 1980s, Abramoff joined forces with future party power brokers Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist.
