Freshman Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) has an op-ed in Politico this morning defending billionaire energy tycoons Charles and David Koch. "Stop harassing the Koch brothers!" the headline reads.
"Charles Koch and David Koch, co-owners of Koch Industries, are U.S. citizens, taxpayers, entrepreneurs and employers," he writes. He should know, their company invested in a company he ran.
But that's not all!
Pompeo counts Koch Industries money at the top of his donor list, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The PAC and executives at the company have given at least $107,500 to Pompeo during his short House career. In fact, on January 16th, Pompeo's campaign got $1,500 from the Koch PAC, according to recently filed fundraising reports.
At the end, Pompeo writes, "Congress should focus on the many policy questions before it." Exactly. Like ending the influence big campaign contributors have over members of Congress.
