Voters demand response to Citizens United

While most of Washington is still digging out of this weekend's blizzard, Public Campaign Action Fund joined with Common Cause and Change Congress to release new polling today on the impact of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision and the Fair Elections Now Act.

The Illinois House of Representatives has voted 114-1 to impeach embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The vote directs the Senate to hold a trial "with the goal of removing him from office."

Good morning, Baltimore

A few people in Baltimore did not wake up as excited to be in the city as Tracy Turnblad earlier this week. Councilwoman Helen Holton and developer Ronald Lipscomb were indicted Wednesday on bribery charges related to tax breaks for buildings under construction on the city's harbor waterfront.

Gov. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.) withdrew his nomination for Commerce Secretary on Sunday amid some possible pay-to-play with his fundraisers. With one gubernatorial scandal already in Illinois, this isn't surprising.

By the time January 2008 rolled around, presidential candidates were already breaking campaign finance records. And by November 4th, they had shattered even more. With so many candidates, so much money, and so much riding on the outcome, campaign contributions were major headlines this year.
