Washington, D.C.--Public Campaign Action Fund released the following statement on the U.S. House passage of legislation to repeal the presidential financing system and Sen. Mitch McConnell’s introduction of companion legislation:
Statement from David Donnelly, national campaigns director:
“This afternoon, House Republicans showed that they are on the side of big money donors, not everyday voters. Not to be outdone, Sen. Mitch McConnell introduced similar legislation in the Senate. Sen. McConnell is widely known as an opponent of common sense reforms and a friend to special interest donors.”
“These efforts are not about saving taxpayer money, they are about giving corporate donors even more access than they enjoy today. We hope these measures don’t advance any further.”
